FUTURE VINTAGE
At Hayley Menzies we believe in trophies, treasures and beautiful things that set the world alight. Having first found our feet as a Saturday Market stall on London’s Portobello Road, the spirit of this buzzing collector’s paradise lives on in everything we create – not only through our eclectic aesthetic, but in the story each and every piece has to tell.
Whether inspired by a vintage piece discovered by Hayley on one of her many trawls or designed as an heirloom to be passed down through generations, where a piece has been – and where it will go next – is integral to our vision. And, being archive enthusiasts, we understand what goes into making clothing that will be cherished. It’s fabrics that will stand the test of time. A rare level of detail. The thrill of knowing the time, care and emotion that has been poured into a design from conception to craft.
We are on a mission to create the vintage of the future. Each piece of Hayley Menzies will now possess a sewn-in woven label detailing the collection name and the year it was made, with the vision that our designs will be unearthed like a treasure years from now. Additionally, a small curation of vintage cotton pieces – personally selected by Hayley – will be available to purchase in store from February 2023 to celebrate the beauty of original design and encourage considered consumption.
We deliberately create small
Our collections are small and considered; in some instances, only a handful of certain styles are ever made. We don’t always get it right, but we are reviewing our overall buying strategy to keep production numbers and ensure that each piece will be treasured.
We design in-house
Often imitated, never replicated, all of our creations are originals. With Hayley at the helm and a growing design team full of painters, illustrators, doodlers and dreamers in our London studio, we are not dictated by trends – only imagination. Our signature designs are rich in storytelling and a thrill to discover; as likely to be loved and worn by your grandchildren as they are by you now.
We value fabrics and craftsmanship
Only those pieces built to endure can accompany you on life’s greatest adventures. We favour natural fabrics such as silk, cotton, merino and alpaca - of which are selected with integrity - ensuring that the optimum material is used to compliment a design. We are passionate about craftmanship and committed to celebrating traditional artisanal techniques in every collection.
We have a diverse and expert supply chain
We started out with our longstanding mother daughter factories, but as our product range has expanded we’ve collaborated with renowned suppliers who produce for leading international designer and luxury brands.
We’re committed to after care
In the coming months, we’ll be working hard to deliver new ways to help our customers care for their pieces after purchase. From intimate in-store repair workshops to preferential prices from brands within our community who can help clean, alter and maintain our specialist items, we’ll offer continued support to ensure that our designs continue to shine for years to come.
